Our Epic Eurocamp Adventure: Discovering La Croix du Vieux Pont

on Tue Jun 18 2024

As you will have seen on our socials, we’ve just returned from an unforgettable trip with Eurocamp Holidays, and I’m so excited to share all the amazing highlights with you.

This was our third time travelling with Eurocamp, and La Croix du Vieux Pont in the Berny-Rivière has become one of our all-time favourites! We think this family campsite in the heart of rural France offers everything you could want and more. Let’s dive into the details...

Location and First Impressions

La Croix du Vieux Pont is brilliantly located just an hour and a quarter drive from Disneyland Paris. We actually made a stop at Disneyland on our way from Calais to the campsite and had two fantastic days there as a warm-up to our holiday.

During our stay, we also took a day trip to Paris. The campsite is only a half-hour drive to Crepy du Valois, followed by a train ride of less than an hour straight into Gare Du Nord. This makes our Eurocamp the perfect base for exploring both Paris and its outskirts.

The Campsite: A Natural Haven

The campsite itself is absolutely stunning. It’s lush and green, with plenty of open spaces, leafy trees, and beautifully landscaped areas. Situated in what feels like a garden, it boasts two amazing lakes and a perfectly blue lagoon with sandy shores where you can swim, relax and build sand castles.

The star attraction, however, is the array of swimming pools. There are both indoor and outdoor pools to enjoy, making swimming a year-round activity regardless of the weather. Winner!

For the little ones, there’s a covered swimming pool with small slides where my youngest spent hours having a blast. Older kids and more daring swimmers will love the small flume, two brand-new waterslides, and a huge drop slide that can accommodate three people at a time, and sends you flying! My older kids were delighted and spent hours on these slides!!

The largest pool is undercover, which is fantastic as it ensures swimming is possible in any weather. Although the outdoor pool was a bit too cold for us wimps during our visit, it will be perfect in the summer.

Exciting Activities

Beyond swimming, there are endless activities to keep everyone entertained. Near the Lagoon and main lake, the 'Kiosk' offers a range of fun options including bungee trampolines, bouncy castles, pedalos, canoeing, bumper boats, quad bike riding, and smaller trampolines.

A clever feature is the activity voucher system. We bought a €20 voucher, which gave us €30 worth of activities. This was plenty for us, but there are higher options to suit all budgets.

Additionally, there’s a room at the Lagoon bar with air hockey and football tables, as well as the Pool Bar with an Arcade room featuring traditional arcade games and claw machines. There’s even a Bowling alley and Laser tag activities available for booking. Football and basketball courts are free to use, and there’s a large outdoor adventure playground too.

Dining and Sundowners

If, like me, you love winding down with a sundowner after a day at the pool, you’ll be pleased with the fabulous range of options available. My favourite spots were the little cocktail bar at the Kiosk and the restaurant overlooking the lagoon. I also enjoyed a Piña Colada (or two!) on the decking overlooking the outdoor pool at the main pool bar.

Dining options include three restaurants: a traditional one by the pool, a takeaway option, and another restaurant down by the Lagoon. Each offers a variety of delicious meals to suit all tastes.

Convenient On-Site Supermarket

The on-site Supermarché, was a fantastic extra. It offered a wide range of options and wasn’t too highly priced, although you can expect to pay slightly more than at larger supermarkets.

Comfortable Accommodation

We stayed in a Comfort XL unit, which featured three bedrooms, air conditioning, a TV, and a fully equipped kitchen with a hob, fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster. We had everything we needed to cook for the week, including a barbecue for al fresco cooking.

Our accommodation seemed almost brand new and was of a very high spec. The shower was fabulous, powerful, and hot. Overall, our stay was very comfortable, even for a family of five.

We also spotted some other accommodation options, such as the slightly larger Ultimate range and some incredible wooden cabins that would be perfect for groups. We’re definitely keen to return with another family or two to explore these options.

Conclusion: A Perfect Family-Friendly Holiday

If you’re looking for a family-friendly holiday with tons of activities, close proximity to Disneyland, and easy access to Paris, La Croix du Vieux Pont is the perfect choice. We left wanting more, as we didn’t have time to do all the activities or try all the restaurants. This campsite truly offers something for everyone, and we can’t wait to go back soon!
