Leyton Leisure Centre
Open today from 0800 until 0530
Formally Leyton Lagoon if you were around in the 90s.
Fantastic venue for toddlers as alongside the main "normal" pool, sessions in the "under 5's" zone are available too! You don't need to book these but can get busy during school holidays when grandparents are recruited for babysitting duties. Like, seriously busy. One-in-one-out busy.
The under 5's zone (see website for times, not open all day) is almost like a soft play in a very shallow pool with three small slides, fountains etc. The pool gets incrementally deeper so even sitters and crawlers can be in the water unsupported which is so lovely and a welcome relief. Goes without saying they need to be supervised though.
Three family changing rooms are available that have changing tables within, an additional changing table and play pen are available too.
There is also a training pool for swimming lessons.
TIPS: Strangely for a leisure centre there's no cafe available, so bring your own snacks for the car ride home. You'll need a £1 coin or trolley token per locker, and the car park next door is charged at &1 per hour. There is however a Tesco close by if you're going for a two birds with one stone type scenario, where you can park for free.
If using the under 5's pool I put the little one in a warm-in-one fleece all in one swim suit as she is partly out of the water so gets chilly quickly.
I have seen buggies left in the changing rooms too, though at parents own risk.
