TALES OF THE GARDEN

We've unearthed some fascinating tales of Longleat from the past five centuries and, from 28th May to 12th September, we are inviting you on a quest to discover and celebrate Longleat's heritage.

šŸ¦LONGLEATšŸ¦ Honestly this is one of the best Zoo/Safari experiences weā€™ve been on to date. We were up closer to Lions, Tigers, Deer, Camels than ever before. Even having a couple of hairy moments with a lioness that didnā€™t like our headlamps and a monkey who ripped off our back windscreen wiper! šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø We saw lots of beautiful zebra and giraffe, a pair of randy tortoises šŸ¢šŸ¢ and so much more right up at our car windows. The experience is split into two parts. The first is the amazing Road Safari experience and the second part is an on foot zoo within the grounds of Longleat house. Here you will see KOALA, red panda, crocodiles, otters, meerkat, aardvark, anteater, giant otters and get the chance to hand feed birds! Plus there is also a fabulous train ride, a smaller childrenā€™s ride, and a huge adventure playground (a massive wooden fort full of play areas for all ages and abilities). Right next to the fort is Little Explorers garden for toddlers. Longleat is also home to the largest maze in the UK. Longleat have literally thought of everything, it is a brilliant full day out. They have picnic areas, restaurants and doughnut and ice cream and sweet shops, as well a huge gift shop to keep you busy. Although itā€™s not a small price to get in at Ā£26.20 for kids/Ā£34.60 for adults, itā€™s free for up to 2 years and for carers and we found that the costs inside Longleat weā€™re not over inflated for food/drinks/gifts as can often be the case. We loved Longleat and highly recommend a visit if you can, we cannot wait to go back soon šŸ¦šŸ¦šŸ¦

Longleat is a superb large park with a drive thru Safari. Within the main park you are spoilt for choice with the beautiful house & gardens as well as multiple animal enclosures & fantastic play parks! There is multiple eateries to choose from but also plenty of picnic space, there is plenty of toilets which offer disabled cubicles & baby changing. There is also a handful of gift shops selling a vide variety of gifts & toys & compared to most parks these shops are all really nice. Included in your ticket price is a train ride & the jungle cruise river boat ride & I highly recommend both. There are some hands on feeding experiences open to all which include Giraffes, sea lions & lorikeets, you can also pre book vip tickets which enable you to be a zoo keeper. Fantastic park suitable for all ages & everything is accessible for wheelchairs.

The best thing about Longleat is definitely the safari that you can drive through yourself or book a tour to see all of the amazing animals, including lions and tigers! The animals have always been quite active whenever we have visited the safari, we choose to go later in the day when it is cooler and this has always worked in our favour. We also loved the walk through where you can see lots of other animals including Meerkats and Red Pandas (these were my daughters favourite). There a range of places to eat on site that we thought they were quite fairly priced considering the food that you get. There is a boat ride that is included in the price where you get to see Apes from afar and feed the Sea Lions that jump beside the boat at an extra cost (bring change). There are toilets and changing facilities on site.

Visited here last week and had an amazing time. We headed straight for the safari and had lunch at the first stop where the giraffes are. Also is the lemur walk through and wallaby walk through. We then carried on thru the safari and saw a wide range of animals, although the lions and tigers were sleeping and the cheetahs could not be found! After the safari we went and found the boat which takes you upto gorilla island where nico lives and then upto the sealions and other gorilla enclosure. We were also lucky to see the hippos. Off course we also went on the train and tried out the new rocking rhino ride. We didn't get to do the maze or house unfortunately as ran out of time as we didn't get there until 12 noon. It's definitly a full day needed in summer. All attractions close at 7, but the pizza place was still open for takeaways so we ordered pizzas to eat before we left, leaving there at 7.50pm!

Longleat Safari and Adventure Park is definitely worth the dollar. We visited this month (Dec 16) and were lucky enough to see their 50th year celebrations tied in with the 100th anniversary of the Beatrix Potter books. They are currently celebrating with the most amazing Festival of Light lantern exhibition. Lights go on at 4pm and bring to life these amazing giant paper lanterns of the tales of Beatrix as well as animals from the safari. I highly recommend getting down there to see this. The safari itself is awesome and the best bit, despite the crazy monkeys jumping on the cars, is actually the elegant reindeer. They have food on offer for Ā£1 and as they are used to being fed, they come up to the car windows, even if you donā€™t have food. The park also offers brilliant outdoor play for tiny ones in the Little Explorerā€™s Garden. Thereā€™s also a hands-on area where you can get up-close and personal with some furry friends and less furry ones, like snakes. There is plenty to do for a full day and the Christmas specials included the Artic Corner of seasonal-themed fun inflatables. There was also this funny augmented reality thing. You stand in front of a screen and it looks like arctic animals are jumping out of the icy water next to you. Funny. There was a carousel too and the most brilliant Christmas tree light show ā€“ a huge tree that flashes and bursts with colour. A story about a hunt for a magic Christmas tree was projected onto the walls of Longleat house in the courtyard. A must if you go before Xmas. The park also run a Santa Express, similar to the Thomas experience in Bucks, but this had sold out when we got our tickets. Oh and I canā€™t not mention the worldā€™s largest hedge maze! You can get stuck in there for days!
