This is one of my favourite places to go in all of Melbourne. The constantly changing art exhibitions keep visits fresh and interesting; there's been some really big names in fashion and art come through in recent years. Not only that, but the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is extremely child friendly. There's a dedicated children's gallery space, which is always free to visit, and again, is always changing to something new. In the children's gallery, called NGV Kids, exhibitions are always interactive and inspiring for little minds. The Grand Hall is a lovely spot to sit down and relax, and there's room for the kids to roam free. In summertime, the NGV really springs to life, with outdoor play, water sprays to keep cool. The cafe is great, offering cakes and coffees, otherwise something more substantial such as hot food and sandwiches. There are dedicated children's lunch boxes for sale from the NGV cafe, too, so if you forget to bring a picnic, buy a lunchbox for less than $10. You could easily spend a day here, whiling away the hours while taking in some beautiful art exhibitions at the same time. We love it! Read more from us at KidTown Melbourne
